By profession, Alicia Sayas holds a Bachelor of Arts and MSW in Social Work from Howard University. She is a first generation Belizean American and a 26 year licensed social worker veteran. She is also owner of Orchard Notary Services. It should be noted that Ms. Sayas considers herself a "designated survivor" of Triple Negative Breast Cancer in which she successfully completed an aggressive 16 month treatment regimen which included two surgeries. Consequently, Ms. Sayas undoubtedly attributes her "healing” to her unwavering faith. However, it was the neverending support of family and friends that helped Ms. Sayas navigate one of the most difficult seasons of her life.
Ms. Sayas strongly believes in servant leadership. She is a Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Health Public Policy Advocate/Lobbyist, feminist, social justice activist, diabetes educator, and BIPOC Breast Cancer Health Advocate. Historically, Ms. Sayas served as the Founder and Executive Director of S.O.A.R. Mentoring Program from 2013-2020 until it was dismantled at the height of the Covid pandemic.
Ms. Sayas believes volunteering is "good medicine" and has a heart to serve her community. Prior to Ms. Sayas' charitable entrepreneurship endeavors, Ms. Sayas was a volunteer HIV/AIDS counselor and tester with Whitman Walker Clinic, established and served as Sister 4 Sisters, Inc. Creative Director of both their homeless and SOS (Saving our Sisters) from HIV/AIDS programs, and was also a volunteer with the Master's Touch Homeless Ministry of Reid Temple, AME, located in Glenn Dale, Maryland for many years. Ms. Sayas firmly believes when much is given, much is required and has dedicated her time, gifts, and talent to serving her community.
In Ms. Sayas' spare time, she delights in spending time with close friends, family, and all things outdoors. Ms. Sayas is also a self proclaimed fitness and foodie enthusiast and enjoys trying new vegan recipes and desserts.
